Introduction

"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea"
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

With that in mind one may think that anybody with a passion for the sea can build an ocean going yacht. But be warned! It is not something that can be taken lightly. It takes time and dedication. This project was started in 2004 with the purchase of plans for the Didi 34. Although almost finished, it is still ongoing.

Interior joinery (2013)

Time is flying and I am a bit worried that this building project is now taking too long. Another year has past almost unnoticed, just working on the interior. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am planning to turn her around in January 2014. In the meantime I am reporting on the work done during 2013.
I did the cupboards and bunk in the front cabin. I finished the water tanks. Although their main structure was done before I did the skin, they still had to be coated and sealed on the inside and the tops (which are also the settee seating) and inspection holes had to be fitted. I also finished the wet locker in the heads area. Time spent during 2013 - 220 man-hours.

Sleeping bunk in front cabin.
Front cabin port locker.
Front cabin starboard locker.
Settee tops and water tank inspection covers.
Inside of water tank.
Wet locker with door on heads side.
